The BAC Mono with brothers Brigg & Mayor of Liverpool (pictured)
The BAC Mono is in the public eye this week after its impressive performance on Top Gear, but even without the publicity from Top Gear the brothers Brigg were already doing very well with the Mono. So well, they’ve been looking for new premises to continue their growth and have settled on a move from Cheshire to Liverpool (just up the road) and a new facility on the Speke Hall Industrial Estate in South Liverpool is set to become the new home of the Mono. BAC’s new home in Speke will be up and running by the autumn, will create an additional 60 jobs in the local economy – and more in the supply chain – and is expected to turn out more than 100 Monos a year by 2015.
The Vauxhall Astra ST 2011
You can’t have a new Vauxhall Astra without a new Astra Estate, so Vauxhall has now got round to revealing the Vauxhall Astra Sports Tourer, which will go on sale at the end of the year and be built at Vauxhall’s plant in Ellesmere Port. Vauxhall has done a good job of making a load-lugger from the stylish Astra. The wheelbase remains the same but the load length grows by 28mm, not a huge amount but enough to give the Astra ST 500 litres of load space with the seats up and 1550 litres with them down.

Top Gear Series 18 Episode 3 with The Sweeney car chase, the Vauxhall Corsa VXR Nurburgring, 2012 Fiat Panda and Ryan Reynolds is SIARPC. We’re already nearly halfway through Series 18 of Top Gear, with episode 3 on tonight. And so far, so good; the daftness is still there, but a lot less puerile than other recent Top Gear stuff, and some properly good car stuff too.
